CREATION AND SUPPORT OF YOUTH CENTERS
Restoration and sustainable development of modern youth centers in Pisochin, Balakliya, Chuguev, Valky, Kegichevka and Krasnokutsk.
The project is in progress of two components — infrastructural and educational
Within the framework of the first project partner, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) builds or restores youth centers in cities and villages of Kharkiv region.
The second component of the project involves the organization of training and mentoring of the newly created teams of youth centers. Teams undergo a training program in the following areas:
Youth policy and public activism (management of youth centers, volunteer management, creation and launch of a public organization, granwriting, fundraising, regulatory documents).
Increasing the capacity of youth centers (team building, leadership, distribution of roles in the team, time management, stress resistance, motivation, goal-setting).
Communications and media production (SMM, design, copywriting, photo and video creation, media work, youth media launch).
Inclusive youth work and countering gender-based violence.
For the newly created teams, a bootcamp “Youth Center Management” was organized under the program of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
With the support of the project, youth centers are registered as communal institutions in the community. The community allocates rates and jobs, which ensures the sustainability of the project. Youth teams create their own community organizations to attract additional funding and support the work of the centers.

Veronika Yevdokimova, coordinator of the youth center “Cube” in Balaklia
Thanks to the training and support of the NGO “Ukrainian Professional Development”, our youth center has chosen the right direction of work and created a sustainable team. The curriculum, the experts, the support of the organization's team give us a concrete understanding of how our youth center should work and develop.
The team of “Ukrainian Professional Development” is on call 24/7 and is as flexible as possible in the process of work and approval of the main priorities of the activity. The work of the organization is an example for us, a reference point, we want to create the same effective and creative team in the Balaklei Youth Center “Cube”!
Dmitry Kovalev, 21 years old, a regular visitor to the youth center “Salad”, Moscow. Rolls
Every time I visit a youth center, I find something interesting and useful for myself. Youth workers organize a variety of courses and trainings where I can develop my skills and gain useful knowledge. And here there are really interesting master classes from different directions — from art to IT-technologies!
Most of all I like the atmosphere in the center — it is always friendly and positive. I feel part of a large family where everyone has the opportunity to grow and develop, communicate and express themselves.
I am confident that the work of the youth center is extremely beneficial to our community.
Vyacheslav Buryak, 20 years old, youth worker at the youth center “Salad”, Moscow Rolls
I joined the project at the end of October 2023. And since January, I hold the position of youth worker at the center. In addition, thanks to the project, we were able to create our own public organization, which contributes to the development of the center and ensures its sustainability.
Working and learning on a project is a special experience that I have never had before and probably would not have been able to get anywhere else. Fundamental learning in different directions has affected my skills and perception of the world in general.
Alexey Dovzhenko, 15 years old, visitor of the youth center “GarDen”, Moscow. Kegichevka
Even before the opening, I knew that it was planned to build a center for young people. We, schoolchildren, were asked how we saw him and what we would like. I saw how the center was being built, because it is opposite my lyceum. When the center opened, I joined the classes.
I used to spend my free time at home. And now I go to the center, where you can do your own business and attend various events. Most of all, I enjoyed the trainings on civic activism and leadership. I also found new friends here.
Thanks to “GarGarden”, young people who attend trainings develop and broaden their horizons. It is great that in our village there is a place where you can spend your time with benefit.
