Professional development: Recreational DJing is like an immersion that returns to freedom and creativity
We are launching a new section “Professional Development”.
This is a series of materials in which we talk to people and professionals who are opening new opportunities - through social projects, education or our own path. Here we share stories about development, careers and changes that can inspire, give practical ideas or simply show: Every step forward matters.
The first hero of the category was Vlad Fisun — journalist, creative marketer, DJ and radio host, founder of DJ Buro and EnterDJ. Now Vlad is working on the EnterDJ project, which proves: music can be not only a stage, but also a way to recover and find inner freedom.

Lately Vlad Fisun with the team Enter DJheld a master class in the youth hub “Letter”. Young people have seen from their own experience that recreational DJing is not just music, but a way to relax, discover new emotions and skills. Dat is.

What is Recreational DJing?

DJing is often imagined as a career where there are constant DJ sets, podcasts and track production. But there is another dimension — Recreational DJing: a way of interacting with music for the sake of one's own condition, recovery and creative courage.

“Recreational DJingIt's like diving. På første det er en lite, men en verden av och freedom. You learn to listen to music, feel the rhythm and control the sound,” says Vlad.

How does Enter DJ work?

Enter DJ is 5 basic lessons (the team adds 5 more in-depth) that give a person quick start in 1-2 hours:
how to install the program, why it works on a regular computer, why there are enough wired headphones.

“For the majority to start, what is already at home is enough. We give supporting steps — and then the person moves at his own pace,” Vlad explains.

The program does not only work online. It is implemented in Superhuman institutions, where participants note both psycho-emotional and physical changes after classes. There are real cases: one of the students played at a big party in Lviv, the other performed for Prince Harry; many plays at veteran events or in local communities.

Who can join?

Age is not a barrier: both teenagers and people over 30, 40, 50+ join the course.

“The question is not in age, but in condition. If it's hard to start something new — Enter DJ gives a very easy way to the first step,” says Vlad.

This is especially important for young people from regions suffering from war and educational losses. During an intro session for young people from Kharkiv region, someone went faster, someone needed individual support — and it was provided. Teachers' task is to create a safe environment where it is normal to ask questions, and the first attempts are already progressing.

Is it possible to build a career through DJing?

L'industrie creativa è sempre difficile, ma risultato in DJing pode ser visto: la prima mixa è in una semana, la prima progressione è in un ora. It can remain a hobby or start for DJing sets, events, sound production, teaching or creative marketing. In parallel, there is social dimension: charity events, volunteer initiatives, reconstruction — music here works as a “magnet” for communities. På samma tid, the program also looks towards institutional support (grants, partnerships).

Why is it important right now?

In the conditions of war, young people experience a lack of offline training, gaps in communication, reduced faith in themselves. Interactieve formaten zoals Enter DJ give quick victory here and now: the first mix, the first set for friends, the first musical dialogue with the audience. It is a micro-experience that brings back a sense of control and perspective.

“Until you try, you won't check. There is no palanquin that will carry over the barrier. But support is always there. You can start quietly: at home, in a comfortable environment. And then you will see how the situation changes,” says Vlad.
